Our Tough Guy

William had a collision with Colin at Miss Angie's on friday. This shiner was the result. He apparently handled it very well.

What's in the box?

Posted by Picasa
I placed an order to Gymboree with a gift card my mom gave us for Christmas. When the box arrived tonight, I told William it was clothes for the new baby. William got really excited and said, "Mommy, the baby is in the box!" He really wanted to help me open it.

Introducing Elizabeth Marie

Debuting around June 1, 2010

William's Big Brother celebration at his favorite restaurant

The special cake the waitress brought him for being a big brother

A not so flattering picture of me, but as you can see he loves to touch and talk to the baby already

We found out monday that we will be adding a little girl to our house sometime in late May or early June. Aaron and I are very excited. William was unaware of the new sibling until tonight. We wanted to tell him on monday, but he had an ear infection so we decided to wait until he felt better.
We really were not sure how he was going to react to the news, but he seems genuinely excited. He started talking to my belly and even played the harmonica for the baby. Then he said, "why isn't she talking?" On the way to the sitter's house the next morning he said, "mommy, is the baby here yet?" This could be a long 18 weeks....
We are naming her Elizabeth Marie after my grandfather's mother who died of TB when my grandfather was 18 months old. My middle name is Elizabeth and all of my female cousins have Elizabeth or Marie as their middle names. My great grandmother wrote a book of poetry while she was in the sanitarium suffering from TB. The poems are absolutely beautiful, and it is one of the reasons that I have wanted to name a daughter after her since I was a little girl.
We are undecided on her nickname, but unlike William, she probably will not go by her full name. You will have to wait until her birth for that decision.
William knows that her name is Elizabeth, but he insists that his baby sister's name is Mumbling Mummy. The mumbling mummy is a character in a Richard Scary book that he likes to read at Miss Angie's....we will see how long he holds on to this idea.

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Today was grandpa's birthday and William called to sing him Happy Birthday on the way to Miss Angie's. He did a really good job singing the whole song all by himself.

William struck me as such a big boy today. I especially love the silly faces he wanted to make for the camera.

Happy Birthday Aunt Maggie

Since Aunt Maggie can't be with us on her birthday, we attempted to make a video of William singing to her. He seems to be a little confused about whose birthday it is, but his intentions are good. Happy Birthday, Maggie! We miss you!

Wall Car

Posted by Picasa
William has an amazing memory. On Christmas Eve, his great grandma Jean gave him this zero gravity car. That night Aaron and I put it in our storage area because it is for ages 8 and up, and we were not sure he would be able to figure it out, or he would break it.
This morning he asked Aaron and I where his "wall car" was....oh, no! He relayed every detail to us about the color of the car, the remote, and when he received it. Needless to say, we had to get it out of the storage area. It didn't take him long and he had figured out how to make it go all directions without our help.

First Movie

Posted by Picasa
We took William to see his first movie at the theatre today. Aaron attempted to get pictures inside, but was practically attacked by movie theatre personnel, so these were the only shots we got. I guess they were worried he was going to try and record Alvin and the Chipmunks on our camera.
We had a really good time, and William was amazed by the size of the screen. He did get a little bored in parts, but I can't say I blame him. The movie was AWFUL!

Rock 'n Roll Masterpiece

Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa
When we started the big boy room process, William requested a rock 'n roll masterpiece painted on the wall. I'm so glad Aaron is creative...I would have never come up with this. William LOVES it, and really had fun adding to it when he got home from Angie's house today.
