Christmas Tree

Aaron and I put the Christmas tree up last night after William went to bed. He was very excited to see it this morning. Here is a little clip that shows his excitement. We have decided to take the gate down around the tree and see what happens.

Gingerbread Man

We went to Panera for lunch today, and at the end of the meal we bought William his first gingerbread cookie. As you will see, he was not sure whether to eat him or play with him.

Trains and Turkey

We didn't take a ton of pictures at Thanksgiving, but we had a great time with Pop, Dee Dee, Aunt Claire, Rene, Jean, and the rest of the bunch. Here are some pictures of William playing with the "big, train."

Marty the Christmas Moose

"Come on, Moose"
"Moose, Fishies water"

Aaron put a tall stuffed Moose in the basement as part of the Christmas decor. William's first encounter with this large stuffed animal was adorable. He was unsure of the Moose at first and asked his name, which Aaron quickly came up with Marty. As William warmed up to Marty, he quickly began pointing out all of his features, his nose, mouth, eyes, etc. Then William asked Marty to come see the fish with him. He grabbed Marty by the hand, led him to the fish tank, and could be heard saying, "Come on Moose, fishies in water." Marty was then asked to join William in a duet on the piano. Things turned a little rough between Marty and William when the little guy began pushing Marty over. Guess it is a good opportunity to teach him not to push friends.

Notice his great bedhead!

Watch Your Language, Daddy

This video is too cute not to share, but Aaron says the word "butt" to William. We have been trying to ensure he calls that part of his body a bottom. Aaron told me to title this entry "Daddy is a Bad Influence." I can't do that because Aaron is a great influence, he just sometimes has a slip of the tongue.

Gobble, Gobble

Today at the babysitter's house William made a turkey that he was very proud of. He especially likes the blue feather. He keeps saying "blue, mommy." He also now does his own impression of a turkey...I will have to get that on video.

Bathtime!

I think my little fish would stay in the tub all day if I let him. He loves to play with the foam letters and numbers and make the fish swim.

Hello, Mommy

How Time Flies

3 months old
3 months old

Tonight

Since he was little, William has loved to ride on your knees if you are laying on your back. He now likes to play elevator, where he goes up and down on my legs. I took a few pictures today when we were playing. The other two are from the same game at 3 months of age. Wow, has he changed!

Paging Dr. William

William loves playing with this stethoscope. He likes to listen to the heartbeats and breathing of his stuffed animals. I had it out today to make sure he wasn't wheezing, and then he got to play with it. I am wondering if Santa should bring him a pretend doctor set.

LONG Night for Mommy

William has had a cold for the past 5 days or so, and it has caused an exacerbation of his asthma. This being said, it has also caused a mild case of sleep deprivation in his mother. I have shared the cold with William and on top of that have been up with him every night for the past 5 nights due to his coughing fits. He is now on an oral steroid which can cause sleep disturbance and hyper activity....we have seen both.

Last night he woke up crying for me at about 11pm. He rarely cries out in the night anymore, so I went in to check on him. He would not lay down and was completely out of sorts. I asked Aaron to bring a blanket and pillow in, so that I could lay on the floor with him. It was not working, so I went back to rocking him upright so his sinuses could drain. At about 12:30am he asked to get down. He then laid himself down on the pillow and went to sleep...what???? Is he ready for a big boy bed?

I knew I wouldn't sleep with him laying on the floor, so at about 1am I went and put him in his crib. I am saying my prayers that tonight is better.

Fish Swim in the Water

William loves to tell us where animals live. He especially loves fish right now, and wanted to take a bath to swim with the fish in the water. He had already had a bath last night, and this was at about 9 a.m., so I decided we would fill a bowl of water and play with the fish at the kitchen table. We played with those fish in various bowls of water almost the entire day. I was rather impressed with his ability to stay on task at the mere age of 2. =)

Topper, Where are You?

William loves looking for things now, and calling for them. We were in the basement while the dogs were running around and he kept saying, "Topper, where are you?" (well, his version of that.) I thought it was cute, so I thought I would share it.

A,B,C's

William has been really into the alphabet for several months now. He loves to name his foam letters in the bathtub and stick them to the wall as he says the name. Here he is showing me his A,B,C skills, that is until he notices I am filming him. We have been trying to capture this on video for a while, so tonight I thought that maybe playing this movie would get him distracted enough that I could film it....it almost worked.

Thursday Fun

We have a bin of cars in the basement and he has picked out a few that specific people always drive. I apparently drive the golden grahams race car, Aaron drives a look alike of his car, and Grammy drives the Matchbox mayor's black suv...who knew?

We had a fun day playing all day today. We didn't run a single errand, which I am sure made William thankful. He has been really into getting up and down on things and saying "I, up, go down." Then usually when he is standing on top of whatever it may be he says "I tall and big."

He also wants to know the name of EVERYTHING! Not just what it is, but a personal name. For example, every animal has a name like Danny, Humphrey, etc. The names are whatever Aaron and I can come up with at the time. The only problem is he remembers what we tell him, so if we aren't together we can never come up with the name he wants. I called a orange playskool train Oliver the other day, and William kept telling Aaron "no, daddy" no matter what name he gave the train. We may have to start labeling his toys with a sharpie.

Flip, Flap, and Fly

William decided to become addicted to a "music video" from the Land Before Time. It features dinosaurs singing a song called, "Flip, Flap, and Fly." He flaps his wings, and changes his voice to go along with the song. Enjoy.

A Chilly Trip to the Zoo

Headed to check out the otters at the Children's Zoo
First spotting of the Geico gecko

Daddy and William on a rabbit on the carousel

He actually was not afraid of the gecko. He shook his hand and was fascinated by him.

Climbing a hippo with Daddy's help

Saturday we decided to take William to the zoo because my earlier attempt this week was not successful. It was pretty cold out, but we had a great time. There were very few people there, so we got to see everything up close. He didn't seem to mind the cold at all.

Rody

For Valentine's Day this past February, Grammy and Grandpa gave William Rody. Just the other day, Grammy said that we could put that toy away to have more room in his playroom....well, I think this video is proof that Rody is here to stay.

Tuesday at the Zoo

At the end of our visit, he asked for his binky and was ready for a nap

William and I went to the Zoo to enjoy the beautiful weather, and I assumed it would not be too crowded. Well, I didn't realize that many St. Louis schools were closed on election day because they are used as polling places. Needless to say, we did not make it to many places. We rode the train around the entire zoo and went into the penguin house. At the end of the train ride, William asked for his Binky and said "night, night." We were done with our visit.

Autumn Fun

On Sunday, we took William out to play in the leaves. He had fun jumping in them and crunching them in his hands. He loved covering us in the leaves.

Fun, Messy Sunday

William got to experiment with finger paints this morning. It didn't take him long to realize how much fun it was to paint himself.
