Saturday Morning with Daddy

Pouting one minute
Happy the next

Daddy is so creative

I took my mom shopping this morning because she had not been out since she fractured her shoulder on February 5th. Aaron and William had a lot of fun at home. He had mini pancakes with smiley faces for breakfast, and got to watch and dance to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse during lunch.

Walter, The Worm

William loves to explore the neighborhood. The other day he found several worms, which were not living, but he didn't seem to mind. He asked me to name them, and he also attempted to feed them. At one point he was kneeling on the ground telling the worm "Come on, worm. Go see my baseball."

New Bicycle

We bought William his first real tricycle, and with the warm weather this week we had the chance to get it out. William kept telling us it was his "new bicycle." He even got to "help" Aaron build it.

Dino Boy

Devouring his encyclopedia
On the way home from the Science Center with Susie the Diplodocus

William L-O-V-E-S dinosaurs. On our anniversary weekend, we did a little shopping for William. We found a book called "My First Dinosaur Encyclopedia." I was quite impressed with how well it held his attention, considering it is for much older kids.

He likes to pretend to be a dinosaur. The other day we were playing in the yard and he told me I was a T-Rex, so I chased him and he pretended to scream and run away. He then said that he was a Brachiosaurus and that he had a long neck. We also pretended to be a Triceratops...with three horns he had to tell me.

A Brief Hiatus

It has been a little while since I have posted, but things have been a bit hectic around here. This past weekend Aaron and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. William got to spend the night with Pop and DeeDee. He had a great time, and so did we. We picked him up around lunch time on Sunday and spent the rest of the day relaxing.

On monday night, Aaron got very sick with some kind of stomach bug. He ran a fever of 102.5. He was quarantined to our bedroom through wednesday night to prevent William and I from sharing his germs.

William has been challenging at best the past several bedtimes. His imagination has kicked in to full gear. Last night it took over 2 hours for him to fall asleep and then he woke up to have a party from 2:30 am - 5 am. When I went in to check on him, he said, "You scare me, Mommy." "You a monster." (Thanks, kid)

Tonight he told me there were dinosaurs and monsters coming and that big dinosaurs lived outside his window. As I am typing, I think he is finally asleep 1.5 hours later...I will take it.

I will catch up on the other posts soon with pictures.

A Trip to Meet Sue

Finding dinosaur bones
"A big, big, big T-Rex" (He said this close to 100 times)

Stuffing his new friend

Almost asleep with Susie on the way home

We took William to the Science Center to see the T-Rex exhibit. The T-Rex is named Sue and is the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found. He loves dinosaurs, but was not so sure of them up close. He was a little afraid, but kept wanting to go back to see them. We took him to the Build-A-Dino store and he made a Diplodocus, which he has since named Susie.

Our Little Photographer

This morning William decided to use our digital camera. He has a play camera, well it is really an old point and shoot of ours, but it works for him. He took some very "artistic" pictures. I think we may have to look in to getting a Kid Tough digital camera for his 3rd birthday.

Williamisms

I now live with two comedic geniuses. Aaron has always been able to make me laugh, and I laugh at William when he is acting silly. Now, William has begun to create his own humor through language. He says some of the funniest things.

Here are a few of our recent conversations.

On Sunday, I was getting him dressed to go to Great Grandma Jean's Birthday party. I was putting a white button down shirt on him, and he looks at me in a very serious way and says, " I go to work, Mommy."
Me: Where do you work?
William: I work outside.
Me: What do you do?
William: Take care of animals.

On the way to Pop and DeeDee's, we let William watch a movie on the portable DVD player because it is a bit of a long trip for him. We had gotten the movie Ice Age for him and did not show it to him until we got in the car. As Aaron was putting the movie in William was inspecting the case. He then says to Aaron, " I watch this movie all the time, Daddy." We don't own this movie, so I am not sure where he is watching this movie "all the time."

Topper the Whiner

Tonight William wanted to play with bowls of water, this is one of his favorite activities. He was talking about the frogs jumping, etc. The entire time he was talking Topper was whining. As William talked louder Topper's whining became intensified. Both Aaron and I were laughing by the end of this video.

Great Grandma Jean's Bday

Aunt Claire, Pop, and William having a great time
The whole gang

We went out to visit with Pop, DeeDee, and Aunt Claire. In the evening we joined the rest of the Browning family to celebrate Great Grandma Jean's Bday. William decided he was done with eating, so Pop walked him around the restaurant while Aaron and I got to finish our dinner...Thanks, Pop!

Rocks

William loves to play with the rocks that are normally decoration at Pop and Deedee's house. His rock playing skills have now advanced to including other centerpieces. As you will see in the video, apparently candles are not enough in this piece of decor.

Oh, The Joy

We gave William a small Valentine's Day gift this morning. I love the fact that we can elicit gasps of pure happiness out of him with 6 toy frogs and a small toy car. Oh, to be two again...

Happy Valentine's Day

I found this GIANT lollipops at Target, and thought since William loved suckers he may love this as well. William stayed dry most of the day, so I let him have it. (Don't worry, I wouldn't let him eat the whole thing at once.)

He was not a big fan of this huge lollipop, so now it sits in cling wrap in the pantry....because he will probably ask for it tomorrow, and still not like it.

Wagon Ride

Pulling the wagon
Visiting Banjo

Dialogue with picture:"Grrr, I'm big and strong."
"You big and strong kid?"

I left to run this afternoon and William was really upset, so Aaron offered for him to take a wagon ride. Apparently, William doesn't believe in riding but did have a blast pulling the wagon all over the neighborhood. He visited our neighbor's dog Banjo and one of their kids. Aaron said that William kept saying, "Kid, what are you doing?" "Kid, do you want a snack and drink?" He also kept telling Banjo to "Come over here Banjo"

Tennis Anyone?

Half clothes/half pjs inspecting his purchase from the night before

We took William to Target tonight because he said he wanted to go to the "dinosaur store." I am not certain what the dinosaur store is, but we needed Kleenex and figured we could find some dinos to appease our little dictator.

We walked around the majority of the store and spent quite a bit of time in the toy section, but to my amazement there were no tears when he put the items back on the shelf. He did however find a tennis racket that he really liked. I am really excited that we got this for him just in time for spring. As Aaron said, "It is time to continue a legacy." We will see what our first tennis lessons bring.

Puzzle Man

William loves puzzles. Tonight he started telling us where the pieces went by saying, "This one goes here." I didn't capture all of it on video, but here is a quick look into his puzzle skills. Our babysitter does tons of puzzles with the boys, so William likes to do them at home (probably because he doesn't have to share.)

It's Begun

I am not sure I wanted this moment to come, but it was awfully cute when it started. This morning when William woke up, I took him out of his crib and he pointed to the crib tent and said, "What's this mommy?" He then proceeded to point to just about everything else: dresser, hangers, monitor, rocking chair, end table, etc. The funny thing, he knows what most of these things are by name already. This questioning continued for the rest of the day. He asked about everything in every book he owns. I thought this Q&A didn't start until age 3.

He is also starting to get really sneaky at bedtime. Tonight he told me he needed to go potty three times. He then said he wanted to eat broccoli...see a previous post that discusses his love for broccoli. Then the strangest behavior began. He started grunting and doing this almost body wave sort move and told me he was a hippo. I will have to get this on video. I put him in his bed and he then began making the baby penguin dance until he finally fell asleep.

Fun at the Big Store

Driving the cart

No one can see me, right?

Stop and smell the roses...well flowers at least

"I love oranges" he kept telling us

We took William to Sam's today. He called it the big store. He had fun exploring nearly every square inch of the store. By the time we left, he had eaten his way through much of the store. They were sampling several different items, so William had chicken, broccoli, cheese pizza, chocolate chip cookie, and about half of a huge orange. He kept asking for more orange, and the nice lady doing the demo cut him a "special" piece because he said "please" and "thank you." Needless to say, we did not have to worry about feeding him lunch.

The Letter "S"

William has recently started emphasizing the letter "s" in his words. It sounds absolutely adorable to us. He almost has a little lisp right now.

Pet Store

William wanted to follow the big boy

As a reward for being a good boy while getting his haircut, Aaron took William to Petco. He loved to see the animals and play with all of the dog toys.

Hair Saloon with Daddy

His least favorite part
Wow, it was time for a cut (Before)

After the cut

Aaron took William to get his hair cut today. He was a perfect angel, and apparently had a lot to say to the stylist. He read his dinosaur book almost the entire time. The poor kid had hair in his eyes for a week or two before we broke down and took him. His hair grows like crazy. We may have to attempt a short big boy look the next time.

Naked Groundhog

At the groundhog day party William received a pair of ears and a mask. He loved the ears from the start, but was not too sure about the mask. Tonight he loved to wear it and run around as a groundhog.
