Debuting around June 1, 2010
William's Big Brother celebration at his favorite restaurant
The special cake the waitress brought him for being a big brother
A not so flattering picture of me, but as you can see he loves to touch and talk to the baby already
We found out monday that we will be adding a little girl to our house sometime in late May or early June. Aaron and I are very excited. William was unaware of the new sibling until tonight. We wanted to tell him on monday, but he had an ear infection so we decided to wait until he felt better.
We really were not sure how he was going to react to the news, but he seems genuinely excited. He started talking to my belly and even played the harmonica for the baby. Then he said, "why isn't she talking?" On the way to the sitter's house the next morning he said, "mommy, is the baby here yet?" This could be a long 18 weeks....
We are naming her Elizabeth Marie after my grandfather's mother who died of TB when my grandfather was 18 months old. My middle name is Elizabeth and all of my female cousins have Elizabeth or Marie as their middle names. My great grandmother wrote a book of poetry while she was in the sanitarium suffering from TB. The poems are absolutely beautiful, and it is one of the reasons that I have wanted to name a daughter after her since I was a little girl.
We are undecided on her nickname, but unlike William, she probably will not go by her full name. You will have to wait until her birth for that decision.
William knows that her name is Elizabeth, but he insists that his baby sister's name is Mumbling Mummy. The mumbling mummy is a character in a Richard Scary book that he likes to read at Miss Angie's....we will see how long he holds on to this idea.
